Everyone has a special place where love began or truly blossomed. Some wonderful holiday or location. We may tell ourselves we’ll go back there but then life gets in the way.

Until maybe one day…

This song is based on an exquisite melody called Bothan Airigh am Braigh Raithneach (A Sheiling On The Braes Of Rannoch). I stumbled across it while listening to the wonderful Julie Fowlis, from the Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland.

Listening back to Julie a year or so later, I realised I’ve strayed a long way from the original, which is probably just as well because it would be tough to face comparison with her,

It would be well worth your while to check out Julie’s work. She sings in Scottish gaelic and concentrates mostly on songs from her native Outer Hebrides. The results are hypnotising.
